A good field braved the high humidity and searing heat for the latest Stableford qualifier for Angel’s Match Play Competition, the conditions were excellent and Bonalba is in excellent condition, although the greens are a little slow due to them being left slightly long for the summer to save them being burnt. The scores were very good and competitive and over 60% of the field scored 30 or more points.

 

Nearest the pin on Hole 4 sponsored by Fiona, Gestoria of El Campello was Sandra Woodfine announcing her return to Spain by winning a bottle.

On Hole 11 sponsored by CJ’s bar El Campello 96 563 2567 once again Graham Sutton proved best on this long par three.

Luc Sienaert sponsored the other par threes and on hole 8 Brian Hines won with a fine shot. On hole 14 Les Wilkinson won for the second week in a row.

Not to be outdone Angel sponsored a nearest the pin in two on the par 4 10th hole and the first one out Richard Davis proved to be unbeatable.

 

In the main Competition:

 

In 5th place with 34 points off 19 hcp was John Rigby beating a host of others on the same score by having a back nine of 18 points.

In 4th place with 34 points off 4 hcp was Dennis Pyman having the best back nine of 20 points.

In 3rd place with 35 points off 13 hcp was John Coubrough is he coming back into form??

In 2nd place with 36 points off 21 hcp was Brian Hines some believe it is about time he was cut especially when he blobs the last, but don’t worry our handicap secretary Stan is on the case.

 

In 1st place with 39 points off 21 hcp was Brian Rippingale showing a welcome return to form and delighted to have his handicap reduced, this Stan will do with pleasure.
