Our first day under the captainship of Doris, and she organised a Texas Scramble in teams of four, each player having to have four drives. The weather was wonderful and everyone enjoyed their day immensely.

 

Doris had requested everyone to wear a funny hat for her drive off and the picture shows the variety of headgear that our members came up with. Doris provided a prize for the best hat which went to Sally and Brian Rippingale.

Keith Preston managed to scoop the money for forecasting where her drive would finish, being one of the few members who thought she would actually hit a good shot !!

 

Nearest the pin on Hole 8 sponsored by Fiona, Gestoria of El Campello, went to our previous Captain Angel Centenera, narrowly defeating our newest member Katharine Hurley.

On Hole 11 sponsored by CJ’s bar El Campello 96 563 2567 Brian Hines rose to the occasion and hit a great shot to claim the prize.

In the team competition:

2nd place with a net score 0f 63.2 were Jim Hulican, Stephen Grey, Pat Hickman and Peter Corbett.

1st place and a great score 0f 62.5 were James Burnett, Bob Crow Maureen Fanti and Keith Preston well played all of you.

 

After this presentation we all had lunch and the presentation of the major prizes for the previous year.

Apart from the medal winners who were announced during the year, the Knock out singles champion was Bob Crow, the knock out doubles champions Roger March and Brian Rippingale, the away day shield winner Dennis Pyman, and finally the eclectic winners, division 1, Paul Court, and division 2 Les Wilkinson.

 

Bill Williams the away day shield sponsor paid tribute to Angel Centenera the Captain for 2009, for all the work he had done not only organising the away days, but also for his hard work in ensuring that everyone enjoyed his year of Captaincy.

Angel responded thanking the Secretary, Paul Court for his unstinting support, and all the members that it had been a pleasure to work for.
