The last opportunity to score for the Away Day Shield sponsored by Bill Williams brought a very competitive field to Oliva Nova which was in excellent condition. The greens were extremely fast but true and the scores were good as well.

There were three 2’s today Franco Fanti returning to the fold, Richard Davis who also got nearest the pin on the same hole sponsored by our Captain. Last but not least John Coubrough who got squeezed out of the main prizes on countback.

Nearest the pin on Hole 3, sponsored by Fiona, Gestoria of El Campello, Ron Macmaster managed to beat the more fancied runners on this difficult par three.

On Hole 11 sponsored by CJ’s Bar Campello 96 563 2567 our vice captain Doris Earp proved best.

On hole 6 also sponsored by our Captain Angel Clive Dresner took the prize with a great shot into the wind.

Our Captain sponsored the third shot nearest the pin on hole 14 and Bob Crow took the honours but failed in his birdie attempt.

Also second shot nearest the pin on hole 18 which was won by Tony Carroll

In the main competition:

5th place with 34 points off 4 hcp Clive Dresner pipping John on the back 9.

4th place with 34 points off 12 hcp Bob Crow managing to beat Clive on the back nine.

3rd place with 35 points off 12 hcp Franco Fanti losing out on the back 6!

2nd place also with 35 points off 16 hcp Paul Court second again and still no wins this year.

1st place with 36 points off 15 hcp Tony Carroll not surprisingly proving best on his home course
