The Golfer Man

Sometimes It is very hard to be handicap secretary :)

 

In the golfer’s life, the handicap changes but never like the golfer wants.

 

The golfer plays well. He is happy to win, to receive the prize but suddenly, he thinks : Oh my God, he ( the handicap secretary) will cut my handicap.

 

But more often, the golfer do not plays enough good and he (the handicap secretary, again) will adjust his handicap with 0,1.

 

To help the golfer to understand the handicap secretary decisions, see below :

         

The handicap adjustments have to respect the categories level.

  Example 1.   Les Wilkinson was index : 20,3 (category 4) - playing 24 in Bonalba  

He won the Capitan’s Day competition with 47 stableford points.

  How to calculate his new index ?  
a) >45 points, so :

2 points - Index is 20,3 - 2 = 18,3 (Les changes of category)

b) >40 to 45, so : 

5 points - Index is 18,3 - (0,5*5) = 15,8     
c) Until 40, so    : 

4 points - Index is 15,8 - (0,3*4) = 14,6  

The new index for Les Wilkinson is 14,6 playind 17 in Bonalba

    Example 2.  

Ruby, a good player with index 11,6  (category 3) won a competition with 39 stableford points.

 

If you do 0,3 by 3 = 0,9 and 11,6 – 0,9 = 10,7 YOU ARE WRONG

  You have to do :  

  a) 11,6 - 0,3 = 11,3 (Ruby is now in category 2 -new parameters)

  b) 11,3 - 0,2 = 11,1   c) 11,1 - 0,2 = 10,9  

The new index for Ruby is 10,9 and not 10,7 !
