Venue Lo Romero

 

 

This was the latest round in our Away Day Shield Competition sponsored by Bill Williams.

 

 It was the first time we had played at Lo Romero and we found the course to be excellent rather akin to an English parkland course than the usual Spanish courses.

 

The weather was changeable after the recent storms and we duly had our share of short sharp rainfalls to make us believe that we really were in England, and give our wet weather gear a rare outing.

 

Nearest the pin on Hole 5, sponsored by Fiona, Gestoria of El Campello, was won by Paul Court, who also converted it to a 2 to receive a ball as well.

 

On Hole 7 sponsored by CJ’s Bar Campello 96 563 2567 John Coubrough proved the best.

 

Our Captain sponsored nearest the pin in 2 on hole 11and nearest the pin in 3 on the 17^th, James Burnett won the 11^thth. and Roger March added to his cellar at the 17

 

We were also fortunate to have an additional Sponsor today Mick The Grip who offers an excellent regripping service at your home for no more than the cost of the grips which are all priced competitively.

Mick also played with us and won our guests prize with an impressive 36 points off his 8 handicap.

He sponsored two nearest the pins and longest drives for Men and Ladies.

 Paul Court won both the nearest the pin at the 12^th and the longest drive for men.

Roger March picked up the prize for nearest the pin at the 15^th, and Sandra Woodfine the Ladies longest drive.

Our Stableford competition proved extremely close as follows.

 

5^th place with 34 points off 31 hcp Dorothy March, their cellar must be overflowing with wine after the last couple of months!

 

4^th place with 35 points off 14 hcp John Coubrough consistent as ever and thinking he would be a couple of points nearer in the consistency league.

 

3^rd place with 36 points off 10 hcp Roger March to draw a further point ahead of John who vowed to catch him up soon.

 

2^nd place with 38 points off 19 hcp Paul Court the 5^th consecutive week in the frame and he still can’t win! Well at least he broke par at last.

 

1^st place also with 38 points off 24 hcp Brian Hines pipping Paul on the back nine
