Costa Blanca Golf Society
Sponsored by Friends of the CBGS:
Manolo Garay, Keith Preston,
Peter Bissix, Angel Centenera
Wednesday 4th March 2009
Venue : Bonalba
The first Wednesday of the month is our Monthly Medal, which was to prove difficult after
the torrential rain we had suffered for most of Tuesday.
The course was naturally wet and this led to plugged balls and little run even for our best
shots.
In the Handicap Secretary's match two of us tested his patience and mathematics to the
limit, one of us starting with a 10 and the other managing a 12 on the 7th!!
We'll spare their blushes by not naming them. The competition was as ever close, but no-one managed to equal par.
We had one guest today who naturally picked up the guest prize, and was so pleased he joined the Society afterwards. A big welcome to Brian Hines.
Once again Bonalba sponsored a nearest the pin this month and the winner on hole 8 was Stephen Grey, who also managed a 2 to win a ball.
Our Captain Angel also sponsored a par three which was won by John Webber on the 14th.
Nearest the pin on Hole 4, sponsored by Fiona, Gestoria of El Campello, John Coubrough hit a
majestic shot close to the flag and duly converted it to a 2 and won a ball as well.
On Hole 11, sponsored by CJ's Bar Campello 96 563 2576 Jim Reid was the winner, nice to see him in the prizes again.
In 5th place with a net 78 off 23 hcp was our Captain Angel Centenera.
In 4th place with a net 77 off 28 hcp was Bob Wilson.
In 3rd place also with 77 off 14 hcp winning on the back nine, came Edi (rent-a-car) Rogers.
In 2nd place with a net 75 off 9 hcp was Roger March (Consistent as ever)
In 1st place with a net 74 off 22 hcp one of our octogenarians Keith Preston using his vast experience to good effect.
