Venue Bonalba

 

A beautiful day but what a Wind !! Bonalaba is difficult at the best of times but a gale force wind can make it almost unplayable. The average score today was 25 giving some idea of the difficulties encountered in choosing which club to play into or with the wind.

 

Two of our members managed excellent scores and although they did not break par, I would be surprised if they were not cut. No doubt our Handicap secretary will be paying close attention.

 

We had two guests today escaping from the cold weather and Shelagh McKinlay won the prize from her husband.

 

Amazingly we had a 2 today, Maureen Fanti richly deserving her ball.

 

Nearest the pin on Hole 4 sponsored by Fiona, Gestoria of El Campello,

Franco Fanti got some reward from what was a poor day otherwise.

 

On Hole 11 sponsored by CJ’s bar El Campello 96 563 2567 similarly Paul Court benefited with a bottle after suffering from seven blobs !!

 

In the main competition the top 5 were quite respectable.

 

In 5^th place with 30 points off 17 hcp Maurice Buol flying the flag for France.

In 4^th place with 30 points off 21 hcp Brian Hines winning on the back 9.

In 3^rd place with 32 points off 27 hcp our Captain Doris Earp slipping down the leader board but still there.

In 2^nd place with 35 points off 13 hcp Edi Rogers showing a consistent form this year.

 

In 1^st place with 36 points off 19 hcp Maureen Fanti, a wonderful round in the conditions.
