Today the 21st October the top sixteen played off their matches in the first round. There were some very close games and a couple which were less so.
The results are as follows.
John Coubrough beat Jim Reid 6 up with 5 to play
Angel Centenera and Brian Rippingale drew their match and elected to play off over 18 holes next Monday.
Paul Court beat Manolo Garay 5 up with 4 to play
Doris Earp beat Les Wilkinson 1 up sinking a six foot putt on the last to win.
Stephen Grey beat Manuel Perez 4 up with 2 to play
Ron MacMaster beat Dorothy March 1 up
Eddie Rogers beat his doubles partner Richard Davis easily.
Roger March beat Keith Preston on the 18th.
The next round will be played on the 25th November when the rest of the society will be playing a team game.
