A windy day with the rain, which was forecast, not materialising, nevertheless made it a difficult day for our first Medal competition of the year. Nobody managed to beat Par but in the conditions the leading scores were respectable.

We had one guest today and it was no surprise that Rudy won the bottle, but this is for the last time as from now on he will play as a member having joined the Society after the competition. Welcome Rudy.

There were two 2’s today One from Franco Fanti and the other an outrageous chip-in by the Welsh Wizard John Webber, as one of his playing partners’ remarked had it not been on line his ball would surely have finished off the green !

Nearest the pin on the 8th sponsored by Fiona, Gestoria of El Campello, was won by Clive Dresner.

On the 14th sponsored by ourselves Edi Rogers won with a fine shot into the wind.

In 5th place with a net 77 off Hcp 25 was Graham Sutton, he was easily able to adapt to the conditions after his stay in England.

In 4th place with 76 off Hcp 16 was our competition secretary Tony Carroll recording his first points for the consistency league which he won last year.

In 3rd place with 75 off Hcp 16 was our secretary Paul Court, in the frame for the first time in a while.

In 2nd place also with 75 off Hcp 17 was our new Captain Brian Fell beating the Hon Sec on the back nine, was this a good move ??

The Winner of February’s Medal was Franco Fanti with a net 73 off 12 hcp. He complained bitterly afterwards that he putted terribly and should have been at least 5 shots better. Handicap Secretary please note !
