Costa Blanca Golf Society

Presidents’ Day started with good weather, no wind and occasional glimpses of the sun. This is one of the highlights of the year after Captains’ Day and a field of 40 produced some excellent scores.

After the golf we enjoyed another excellent lunch provided by the Bonalba restaurant and our thanks go to their friendly and efficient staff. Our President ‘Manolo’ Garay welcomed everybody and said how pleased he was about the excellent turn out of over 50 and the friendly atmosphere between the members.

On hole 8 sponsored by Fiona Gestoria of Campello Bob Crow was the winner.

On hole 11 (Mr Bonalba) Richard Davis hit a superb shot to win the prize.

The other two on holes 4 and 14 were won by Dennis Pyman adding to his ever growing wine cellar.

Mr Bonalba was obviously doing something right as he also won the longest drive on hole 5 with a mighty blow almost up to the path.

The winner of the Ladies longest drive on hole 15 was Sally Rippingale our Captains’ Lady.

There were two birdie ‘twos’ won by Jim Hulican and Dennis Pyman. Dennis informed the meeting that he had won so many balls this year that from now on he was going to sponsor this competition, this was greeted by a warm round of applause.

Sally Rippingale is the first ever Lady winner of the Presidents prize.   

On behalf of the prize winners, Dennis Pyman thanked Manolo for his generosity and hoped that the Society would continue to thrive under his leadership
