Friday 27th February and El Plantio golf course was the venue for the fourth round of matches in this years Costa Blanca News Golf League. We were playing our closest rivals El Patio G.S. who were only 2 points behind us,but a magnificent performance from the team gave us a 5 - 0 [10 points] victory. Last Friday we had a table at the La Cova Restaurant for a Dinner and Dance which they now hold once a month. We all agreed that at €20 a head it was excellent value for money. The food was good - even our French connaisseur agreed (!!) - and the music enticed us on to the dance floor. It was great to see Ken and Tina there and a special mention to Tina - it was her birthday. As from the March Medal Competition 2009 we will restart the popular Monthly Lunches. For anyone who has not been to any of the previous lunches, these will be held after each medal play to give us the opportunity for a relaxed social get-together after the competition. There will be a light 3-course meal, i.e. salad, a choice of the main course from the normal lunch menu and a sweet. The cost is €11.50 which includes a drink and a small tip. At our last 10-pin bowling evening we had the great fortune to witness a truly amazing performance, we were able to see the MASTER AT WORK. Never before had anyone else of our Society managed to achieve this incredible score: SIX STRIKES and a total score of 189 Who is this bowling champion ?? Our Capitán ANGEL CENTENARA !! Today, 30th January 2009 at Bonalba, saw the third round of matches in this seasons competition. We were playing for the first time against Levante Golf Society who were promoted last season. We were without two of our regulars, John Coubrough and Barrie Yates, who are both holidaying in Thailand, but Jan Hulican and Stan Tarabula proved excellent replacements, helping their partners to victories as the team recorded an excellent 4 1/2 - 1/2 win for the second match running.
